The West Bengal Limbu Developmet Board in order to achieve the aim and objects of the Board plans to take up the following;
1. The Government in the Department of Tribal Development Department has decided to implement a Housing Scheme for the construction of houses in the District of Darjeeling for the indigenous,homeless, BPL from the economically weaker section of people (EWS) belonging to the Limbu Community who have no pakka house of his/her own. The dwelling units shall be in the name of the lady of the house.
The name of the unit under the State funding will be known as Yakthum Heem , in other words “ Limbu House”.
Till today the Department has under this scheme has allotted fund for 500 houses for a unit measuring 15ft X 20ft with a toilet and GCI sheet roof.
The Yakthum Heem under constructions are;
2. Skill Development for artisans, women, dropout students and to develop contact to market their products/skill.
3. Limbu Language School
4. Limbu Museum cum Library
5. Construct of Mangheem (limbu temple).
6. Publish useful literature with regard to tradition and culture of the Limbu Community.
7. Community Centre.
8. Awareness program in association with Government Agencies on Career Guidance, Consumer Rights , Social Welfare, Health Camps etc .
9. Drinking water facilities.
10. Over All development of youth in Education, sports, tradition and culture etc.
11. Construction of Hostel for students.
